For 15 years as a professional chef, Chef Rey has been blessed to have worked for some of the most premier artists performers, athletes, and served as Executive Team Chef for three of the Major Sport Teams (Houston Astros, Houston Rockets and Houston Dynamos), in the 4th largest city of our nation. In his current endeavor, Chef Rey has partnered with the Art Institute of Houston titled “AI After Dark.” Two Tuesday out of each month Chef Rey will provide a live cooking demonstration followed by dinner and engaging conversation about his new book “15 Years in 12 Minutes.” In addition, one Saturday out of each month, there will be a theme night Popup. Chef Rey lives by the belief that The Recipe for Life is Love and he applies that philosophy in and out of the kitchen, through his food and philanthropic endeavors: “The Recipe for Life is Love,” the Chef Rey Scholarship, benefiting student at the Art Institute.

“Chef Rey is the athletes’ chef in addition to the Performing Artists as well. He has worked as a private chef for many of the best athletes AND ARTISTS in the world. It is only great performance based food if it tastes good and clearly the evidence speaks for itself. Modifying recipes to meet an athlete’s individual goal or a team goal is central to performance based nutrition. Chef Rey can take traditional high fat foods and modify them to fit the performance template. Although there are many great chefs in the country, few can make leaner food taste like gourmet food from the best restaurant. This is not only unusual· it is an art.
